The Price of Love

I told the moon

all mine, all that was true in me.

This is not a game.

It’s the trust I gave to you.

She wept silently,

through night and day,

as unspoken words

slowly slipped away.

I loved her so deep,

but she couldn’t return,

and in that quiet distance,

little pouch, that my heart, began to burn

But in vain all had gone.

As trust can foster love,

it can swallow it in one go,

just before a blink of eyes.
